Sex and Politics, that Devilish Blue Dress and ice cream on Sunday.

Monica and Bill

we all know

she did NOT

need the Pill!

Yeah, I can joke and laugh at it all now, that devilish blue stained dress.

But you know what, I really hated it all when it came out because it turned the political world upside down.

Remember that we spent 60 million dollars looking into the Whitewater land deals and what we ended up with was that lil devil in the stained blue dress. We got there because the only way to bring down Clinton was to bring out his sex life.

Are we enjoying what we reaped with that now?

I am tired of sex and morality being the issue that divides many of us. I don't think of anybodys private life when I meet and talk with them. Sex and religion are not the number one issues I use when I think about others. Those two things are NONE OF MY BUSINESS!

So why oh Why are we beating each other up on two issues that are really privacy issues?

At one time our country had many laws that were created to make folks adhere to a morality based on the most puratanical element of christianity. There was a name for these laws, blue laws and these folks at one time were called "bluestockings". These blue laws were implimented to enforce religious standards on everyone and were created to make Sunday a holy day.

No commerce on Sunday, no working on Sunday, no ice cream sales on Sunday. Yep, that is where the sundae came from. It was a confection created to side step the blue law against Sunday sales of ice cream and ice cream sodas.

We had Southern and Mid-Western states that created blue laws that targeted non-religious people and people of other religions. Some laws were created to control Jewish folks and Seven day Adventists. Look what happend to the Mormans to see how these types of laws were made to hinder one religious denomination from growing in the east. They were pushed into the most uninhabitable lands just to be free from persecution.

These blue laws were created to enforce one type of christian belief on to others. People were fined or jailed for playing cards, singing and dancing or even fixing their fence on Sunday. You could not buy pots and pans on Sunday.

Even now in this 21 century we have blue laws still on the books in some states on the sale of beer, wine and liquer. And in some states car dealers cannot sell cars on Sunday.

Why do I bring all this up?

Well we have a new type of bluestocking and they wish to create laws that again control all the American people with their religious views.

The marriage issue and gays is really nothing more than a modern cousin of these old blue laws. We have both civil and religious marriage in this country so why should civil ceremonies be restricted by another person religious beliefs?

Why can't I and my friends sit down in a quiet bar that doesn't smell like french fry grease so we could have a nice quiet beer together? BLUE LAWS that's why!

I am sick and tired of sex and religion taking away from real issues we need to work on. I am tired that politcians need to explain their private live in public. I don't care who is a good little pilgram, I don't care who tapped another person in a bathroom or who is a better family man or woman.

So, what have we got from that old smeary blue dress?

A resurgence of BLUESTOCKING POLITICS!

Sex makes us all do strange things, just keep it where we don't have to see it or hear about it you consenting adults and then we can all talk about real problems we need to solve in our country.

As always I appreciate sticking with the CoH and leave the name calling in the school yard.

Sex does make us do some strange things. It's nobodies business that my wife likes to tie me to the floor and throw donuts at my naked body with her friends or that we filled our jacuzzi with lime jello.

Damn Bad Fish.... Isn't that lime jello hard on the jacuzzi pump?

BAck to Vlad's point....I have seen a trend here on the vine from our conservative friends, that since they really don't have anything to run on this year in the way of accomplishments, they are:

1) Thumpin the Bible.

2) Using rule #3 of the GOP playbook which states: "If you don't have anything to run on, paint your opponent as negatively as possible in an attempt to make yourself look better."

They toss the powdered donuts at me but the Jelly donuts are squeezed and smashed on me violently. I tell them it hurts but they laugh at me. Sometimes i have nightmares about it. The horror and shame of it all, i don't know why i volunteer for it.

Death by jelly donut.... Didn't Elvis suffer the same fate? If he did, you are in good company.

Have we derailed Vlad's seed enough yet, or is he standing by waiting to see how low our running commentary goes?

This should be more proof that progressives and liberals make love whereas conservatives make war and talk show hosts....!

In the Navy, when you wife had a baby, it was tradition to pass out donuts when it was a girl, and cigars when it was a boy. (You can't make this stuff up folks....!) I'm curious about the other branches.... or other religious denominations since we are kind of... or at least suppose to be on that topic.

Is Vlad back from his cigarette with the Mrs. yet?

In the Army, you are required to "present baby"... kind of like "present arms"... then watch seasoned NCOs and officers make fools of themselves...

The Political Arena is slowly morphing into the Gladitorial Arena where the amount of blood left apon the sand sends waves of emotions throughout it's walls and carries with it a sense of pride for those who so eagerly watch. And with each battle ending with the snuffing out of yet another Political life a Champion is expected to emerge.

The only problem being is there is no honor amongst the combatants ; for we that so intently watch have set the bar much too low for men of honor to have walked this path.

From this we try to hide our shame behind Gods cloak and instead of taking a deep look within in search of why we need to be a part of these games, we find it much more easier to pass judgement on others allowing the bar to drop yet another notch.

Now there is nothing left but to try and get a better seat for the following battle lost within false hope of the day our Champion be found. For though they do exist they can never be found amongst those that play this game.........

You said it, Vlad! And I'm sick of it, too. But I really think that these are distraction issues. There are those among us who want us to be distracted from the issues we should really be concerned about. And they are doing a great job of it. Those of us who truly believe that these are privacy issues and have no place in government need to keep speaking out and making ourselves heard -- with our words, our votes and our consumer dollars.

Socks worn that do not match should be a crime....I think the fashion police need to hear about this story fast....I like standard white socks...All white socks go together ....If you know what I mean...

The blue laws are best gone (at least mostly), but, I just read to many stories about rape, children and women disappearing only to be found dead (and usually mutilated.)

Sorry, still thinking about the donuts... I need to bring that up with my wife.

But, the real pain that we suffer in our world is when one individual or group tries to control other people's lives. I guess that is some kind of rush (sexual?) for some people.

Where am I going with this? Just that we can't forget the pain that is so present in our society. Some of that pain is to people like Cain who may have made some mistakes in his life. I just remember what Jesus had to say about all this. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" Matthew 7:3 NIV

Agreed, Vlad. I think the whole Clinton infidelity thing gets brought up because to many voters, it shows a distinct lack of character and a willingness to lie. Both are bad traits for someone running a country.

Blue laws suck and should be done away with.

It is sickening that they spent so much over "Clinton's stain", but they haven't bothered to find out all the secret deals the Fed made using taxpayer money. To "add salt to the wound", Newt Gingrich is running for POTUS. He was one of the biggest hypocrites in the whole Clinton scandal. It just boggles the mind how some people try so hard to save others from themselves. Since the public is more educated, why are Americans so easily brainwashed?

It's funny you should mention this because the town I'm living in here in N Texas JUST approved sale of alcohol in stores etc here! It was a dry town up until last year! At Walmart you can't buy liquor on Sundays til after 12:00! I live in a "dry county." They are starting to see how revenue from alcohol sales could benefit our small town so they brought it before voters and it passed. Surprising but true. We have a lot of Seventh Day Adventists here.

We have dry townships here Jackie. Right across the township line and down the street from most of them are bars that were built to for the dry folks a quick and close drink. LOL

I love reading people's posts about weird food related stuff. Jelly donuts are a great idea. Some like to be tortured with chicken fat and other slimy stuff. It's all good, really! I just don't want to clean it up.

Just keep it all out of my politics, also Liberal.
