An aged flower is still a flower.
I'll tell you what, making rules is not an easy task and it has gotten me all discombobulated so I am taking a break from writing the rules for nations article. But something has come up and stayed on the surface of the Newsvine debate, the loss of community.
Newsvine did not create the community without help!
Oh oh, politics. LOL
No really, the way I see it Newsvine gave every individual member a place to go and learn and meet people and finally join in the bigger community in at least some fashion. So the worry about community is not as bad as some may think. The difference is only how we go about finding and talking to one another. We have to find the new roads and also create new paths in order to keep that community spirit flowing.
So far, I see people thinking about nations and already creating them, their subjects and what kind of folks they want as members is already a good thing, it is creating more gatherings of inhabitants which will bond in some fashion with the larger community.
Right now I do feel the disconnect, the separate nature of the two systems as we jump back and forth trying to keep up with conversations now spread apart more. But to me that is just temporary to the larger thoughts of how can we smoothly move into one system as easily as possible and how we can also help others as they try to slip in and work the pathways.
So here is the thing to think about when thinking of community, we are not only testers, we will also be ambassadors and quick tech support and cheer leading squad, and band camp and an ear to hear complaint and maybe even a shoulder to cry on.
Isn't that what community is in the first place?
