If you live in a mud puddle, all you see is mud.
It was very interesting yesterday to watch the right wing go off on many tangents. I watched as the right wing went off on the effects of the riot and if the cause, the movie was brought up, it all went to freedom of speech and how those rioters needed to put on their big boy pants and act like adults. As I watched I noticed one big thing, none of these angry, fist shaking right wingers were even in any of the seeds and articles about the movie, this mystery man, Sam Bacile and the supporters of this movie. None of them appeared in the time line seeds that showed with out a doubt that Mitt Romney jumped the gun in order to have a talking point that day that denigrated the president.
The need to blame the president was so important they never even wanted to find out the cause and just zeroed in on the effect. It got so bad that if you weren't shaking your metaphorical fist at the rioters then you must be in support of the riot and the murders of our people.
Now I don't think for a minute that this reaction, the riots and then the killings was some spontaneous thing that happened just because of the movie. There were underlying forces that helped generate the response. These rioters could have been paid, they could be part of a nefarious group that wants upheaval in their country because it gives them a platform to gain control. They used the movie to their own purposes and it was successful. Just look at the response of the right wing here in our country, look at how Mitt Romney played it. The riot and killings wagged the right wing dog to an emotional outpouring of finger pointing directly towards the president. It seems to me that the right wing is in need of big boy pants and should calm down and think of both cause and effect. Is that asking too much of them?
Now my hope is that Egyptian and Libyan officials help us to find out who was behind this and also who the murderers were but I won't hold my breath because they are not America and I don't expect them to act like we do with this issue.
Now I would also like to see the right wing calm down to discuss this issue with logic and understanding of both cause and effect but again, I ain't going to hold my breath on that either. Many of them cannot control their emotions right now, they are so tied to the fear mongering on a daily basis that no knowledge or logic is allowed to enter into the discussion.
We have seen and heard three and a half years of high emotion, nonsensical conspiracies and suggestions of civil war if the right wing doesn't get its way. What makes their emotions any different than the emotions of those rioters? Well, they haven't rioted or killed anyone yet, but they have been played like a fiddle to sing an emotional tune, just like the rioters.
