I had never been on a plane till last Friday, and I got to do two planes in one day, am I a glutton for punishment or what?
I enjoyed the whole experience, even the little annoyances because it was all brand new to me. I liked the take off, I really liked when the planes would bank, and the landing was not bad, if a little more noisy than the take off.
Flying out of Pittsburgh was really fun because I got to see places and sights that I knew very well, with quite a new perspective. And I watched out the window the whole fight. I knew when we were flying over the mighty Mississippi, but I saw other rivers that I did not recognize on my flight that peeked my interest into looking further at the flight path and I will get out all my maps when I get home.
We flew around a huge storm that was to the right of the plane. It was miles long and I could see 50 lightning strikes at least every minute, since I could see almost all of this huge storm all at once. It was a late flight so I got to see how we were up so high the late evening sun made it so light, while underneath the clouds, night time had already started, with golden lights appearing as people settled down to the darkness underneath, what a very interesting sight that was. As we approached Dallas, I saw a city so spread out that I thought I was a gnat that had found its way into a large Christmas tree with a billions lights just below me.
The seating is a little cramped, and I got a few muscle spasms while seated, and it was harder to relieve that cramp, with so little room, but I worked at them with a minimum of contortions, till the muscle would relaxed. It was fun to watch the flight attendants go through their routine with the safety lesson, they had did it some many times you could tell they wanted to get it over ASAP, and I wanted that too, I had a window to look out.
Going through the TSA check was not bad at all, I was expedited so no full body scan or taking off my shoes. Yes, I did have a clean pair of socks on just in case. But I had to take off my belt and hold my pants up as I retrieved my bag, yes, I did have underwear on, and they were clean, but I really did not want my pants to fall down to my ankles, so that was a little off putting, till I could find a seat to belt up again, and secure my unmentionables.
I had to really rush to the next flight gate, the timing got a little messed up, but I made it and got on a newer plane. Dallas Airport is YUGE.
Our flight to Albuquerque go in late because we had to deviate the flight path because of a another large storm, so we got in later than expected. I learned later that Grump and my wife had both been watching the fight on line and knew I would be later before I did.
I arrived, found Grump and his grandson, and then we went and had breakfast, then went home and sat down to enjoy the first few hours of our mini vine meet.
I have seen so much already and it is only Wednesday, I am adding so many new birds to my life list it is growing YUGE now.
Now were are all those scorpions and Tarantulas they have down here?
