I have been thinking a lot on what comes after the election, do we continue down the same road with each party doing the exact same thing, or do we get something better?
The Republican party is in a real pickle for many reasons, there is a disunity from a failed leadership that thought obstruction at every opportunity would give them as edge during the next presidential election cycle. This obstruction made them look cohesive and strong, but the strategy was really based on an ever increasing weak political position, that got weaker each year. Witness that fact that the GOP had 17 different presidential candidates, which suggests a leadership vacuum in the party. I believe this is why Donald Trump was able to gain and win the primary.
Now, there are many on the left who are celebrating this fall, and I sure do understand those feelings, but the Democratic Party is not made stronger by a totally dysfunctional GOP. Even weakened, the Republican Party can still create obstruction and dysfunction many ways. So the Democratic Party is in its own pickle jar.
I am of the opinion that both parties must find a common ground that will help them both and help us to come together in some fashion. And I think if many members in both parties had an issue that would resonate with millions of Americans, we could see some real progress on one major area, the break up of the Entertainment Media complex.
Let's face it, both sides, and a majority of Americans, are not very happy with this information behemoth that had gobbled up what once was a vast and diversified business. what was once a vibrant part of our society, has become a monopoly of one size fits all way of thinking that provides all of our news and entertainment. And I think that this monopoly on information has become a detriment to our society in many ways.
I believe than many Americans from many backgrounds and political perspectives would love to see the break up of this vast and insulated information monster. We need more diversity and more competition in this area more than ever. We cannot sit back any longer and let a few own and operate all of our media outlets. More than anything, they now drive the information car and we all are stuck in the trunk banging to get out. we have let them create a culture that is ugly in many ways, we have let them sell us their version of American culture, and frankly what they sell every day really sucks ass wind.
I do think that if we Americans come together to push this issue we will all gain from it, as a society, and as a nation. we must be given a media we can trust to do the right things to educate and entertain, we can no longer let a few dictate what goes on TV, in magazines and in the movies. Our very culture needs more diversity from where we get our information and our entertainment. As it stands now, we are given a daily dose of crap created by small cadre of media minds that all think alike.
It is far past time that we break up this information monopoly and both parties could gain and so would our nation.
